Overview

The Society for Nursing Engineering was founded when our first president, Dr. Hiromi Sanada, prepared the soil for this new academic field and sowed its seeds. Our second president, Dr. Junko Sugama, nurtured those seeds with care and guided them toward maturity.
Now, as the third president, I have been entrusted with the baton. My mission is to help these mature buds bloom into vibrant flowers. The integration of the nursing and engineering sciences represents a future-oriented challenge aimed at creating new values that enhance health and quality of life. Blooming flowers are not merely symbols of achievement; they also signify the birth of new life that connects to the future. As a midwife, this mission holds profound meaning for me.

First, we will make steady progress toward incorporating the Society as a general incorporated association, thereby strengthening our organizational foundation and ensuring transparency and sustainability in governance.
Next, we will launch and implement the English edition of the Society’s journal, while increasing the number of papers published in the Japanese edition. In addition, we aim to expand the membership by encouraging active participation from students and early career-researchers, as well as by engaging healthcare professionals involved in clinical practice.

Finally, we aim to promote interdisciplinary collaboration with new fields, broadening the possibilities of nursing engineering and creating innovative value for the future.
